TuGo® Sports & Activities Coverage is an optional add-on to TuGo Emergency Medical Insurance that extends your coverage to injuries sustained while participating in adventure sports and high-risk activities. Without this add-on, injuries from the activities listed below are excluded from your standard travel insurance policy. This add-on is underwritten by Industrial Alliance Insurance and Financial Services Inc. and is available through OnVoyage, a licensed insurance broker.

How It Works
Your standard TuGo Emergency Medical policy — TuGo Travel Insurance or TuGo Visitors to Canada Insurance — already covers most recreational activities including resort skiing, hiking, swimming, snorkelling, and similar pursuits. For higher-risk activities such as backcountry skiing, rock climbing, or skydiving, you must add Sports & Activities Coverage. Coverage applies while participating in, training, or practicing for a selected sport or activity. Note: coaches, referees, and sports officials do not need to purchase Sports & Activities Coverage — it is required only for participants and trainees.
Key rule: If you select more than one sport or activity, you only pay the surcharge for the highest-rated activity and are covered for all sports selected. You must declare all activities you plan to participate in at the time of purchase.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Is Sports & Activities Coverage a standalone policy?
- No. It is an optional add-on to a TuGo Emergency Medical Insurance policy — either TuGo Travel Insurance or TuGo Visitors to Canada Insurance. You must hold a base Emergency Medical policy to add it.
- If I select multiple sports, do I pay a surcharge for each?
- No. You only pay the surcharge for the highest-rated activity, and coverage applies to all sports you declared at the time of purchase.
- Does coverage apply during training or only competition?
- Coverage applies while participating in, training for, or practising a selected sport — not only during competition.
- Do coaches and referees need to buy this add-on?
- No. It is required only for participants and trainees. Coaches, referees, and officials do not need to purchase it.
- Does resort skiing require the Sports & Activities add-on?
- No. Standard resort skiing, hiking, swimming, and snorkelling are covered under the base Emergency Medical policy without this add-on. Only activities listed in the coverage table above require it.
- What activities are permanently excluded?
- Rodeo-type activities (barrel racing, bull riding, bronc riding, chariot racing, harness racing, and related events) are never covered regardless of add-on. Certain listed sports are also excluded when performed in areas closed to the public or marked off-limits by safety authorities.
